How do AN hose blanking caps seal?
The fluid seal is created where the female 37° flare inside the cap seats against the 37° flare of the male AN/JIC connection. The UNF thread holds the two sealing surfaces together but does not itself provide the fluid seal.
Do AN hose blanking caps require an O-ring?
No. AN/JIC connections seal on their 37° flare surfaces and do not require an O-ring.
Should I use PTFE tape or thread sealant?
No. Thread sealant or PTFE tape should not be used on the AN/JIC thread. The connection seals on the 37° flare rather than on the thread.
Can these caps be fitted to our custom braided hoses?
Yes, where the hose assembly terminates in a compatible male AN/JIC connection. Simply select the cap that matches the AN size of the hose fitting.
