-
What is the Setrab USA thermal switch used for?
The thermal switch provides automatic temperature-based electrical control in compatible 12V automotive systems. Typical uses include controlling cooling fan relays, oil pump relays and warning circuits.
-
How does the thermal switch operate?
The switch is normally open. Its contacts close when the selected switch-on temperature is reached and automatically reopen as the temperature falls to the corresponding switch-off temperature.
-
What activation temperatures are available?
Multiple activation temperatures are available. See the available options for the exact switch-on and corresponding switch-off temperatures.
-
What connection does the thermal switch use?
The switch uses a 1/8"-27 NPT male tapered thread for installation into a compatible female NPT port. Use suitable PTFE tape or thread sealant when installing it.
-
Can the switch be wired directly to a fan or pump?
The switch is rated up to 10A at 12V DC. Higher-current fans, pumps and other electrical devices should be controlled through a suitable automotive relay.
-
What electrical terminal does the switch use?
The switch uses an Amp #250 tab, compatible with a standard 6.3mm (1/4") female spade connector.
-
Can the switch be installed in a sensor port adapter?
Yes. It can be installed in a compatible adapter or other component with a 1/8"-27 NPT female port.
