BSPP is a parallel thread and must be matched to a compatible BSPP port. Do not substitute NPT or other pipe threads based on nominal size alone. These BSPP connections are designed to seal using an O-ring.

What are AN to BSPP male to male adapters used for?
AN to BSPP adapters provide a transition between a female AN/JIC fitting and a compatible female BSPP port. They are commonly used when connecting AN hose systems to components that use BSPP threaded ports.
-
How does the AN connection seal?
The male AN/JIC connection seals against the corresponding 37° flare inside a compatible female fitting. The thread draws the mating flare surfaces together but does not provide the primary fluid seal.
-
How does the BSPP connection seal?
The BSPP connection uses a parallel thread and seals with an O-ring against a compatible mating port. The thread retains the adapter while the O-ring provides the fluid seal.
-
Do AN to BSPP adapters require thread sealant or PTFE tape?
No. The AN side seals on its 37° flare and the BSPP side seals using an O-ring, so thread sealant or PTFE tape should not be required when installed into the correct mating fittings.
-
Is BSPP the same as NPT?
No. BSPP uses a parallel pipe thread, while NPT uses a tapered pipe thread. They use different thread forms and sealing methods and should not be treated as interchangeable.
-
Are these adapters compatible with braided hoses?
Yes. The AN end can connect to a compatible female AN hose fitting used on a braided hose assembly, while the BSPP end connects to a compatible O-ring sealed BSPP port.
-
What are the adapters made from?
They are precision-machined from 6061-T6 aluminium and finished with a black anodised coating for protection against wear and corrosion.
