How Do AN to NPT Adapters Seal?

The two connections use different sealing methods. The AN/JIC connection seals on its 37° flare, while the NPT connection seals on the tapered thread. A suitable thread sealant or PTFE tape should be used on the NPT connection, while the AN/JIC connection does not require thread sealant.

Check the NPT Thread Before Ordering

NPT threads are tapered and are not interchangeable with similarly sized parallel threads such as BSPP. Check the thread size, pitch and connection type of the mating port before selecting an adapter.
