What is an ORB Connection?

ORB stands for O-Ring Boss. Unlike an AN/JIC fitting, which seals on a 37° flare, an ORB connection uses a straight thread to retain the fitting while an O-ring provides the fluid seal against the mating port.

AN and ORB Threads Are Not the Same Connection

Some AN and ORB sizes use the same thread diameter and pitch, but their sealing methods are different. AN/JIC fittings require a compatible 37° flare, while ORB fittings require a correctly formed O-ring sealing port. Always identify the connection type as well as the thread size before ordering.
